In Utah, the garage is one of the hardest-working spaces in the house. Between the seasonal sports gear, camping and hiking equipment, yard tools, holiday decorations, car supplies, bikes, and whatever else the house can't hold, garages fill up fast. And once they're full, they become impossible to use for anything useful, including parking a car.
Orderly Nest helps Utah families turn their garages from overflow storage into organized, functional spaces where everything has a place and you can actually find it.
Why Utah Garages Are Especially Challenging
Utah families tend to be active. Skiing, hiking, camping, mountain biking, and trail running aren't just weekend hobbies for many households; they're central to family life. Each activity comes with its own gear, and all of it needs to live somewhere.
Add in four seasons of temperature changes, kids who grow out of equipment every year, and the natural tendency to move things to the garage when they don't have a home elsewhere, and you have a space that takes real effort to manage.
The Orderly Nest Garage Organization Process
Amber and her team starts every garage project with a full sort. Everything comes out so you can see exactly what's in there. Items get grouped by category: sports gear, automotive, yard and garden, tools, camping, seasonal decor, kids' items. From there, decisions get made. What's still being used? What's been sitting untouched for years? What can go?
Once the inventory is right-sized, the next step is zone planning. Each category of items gets a dedicated area. Frequently used items go in accessible spots. Seasonal gear gets stored in a way that doesn't block daily access.
Wall space is one of the most underused resources in a garage. Pegboards, hooks, and wall-mounted racks can hold an enormous amount of gear without taking up floor space. Overhead storage systems work well for bulky items like luggage and seasonal decor that don't need regular access. Shelving units organize smaller items and create visible, easy-to-navigate storage.
Making the Garage Safe and Functional
Beyond organization, a well-organized garage is a safer garage. Clear pathways reduce trip hazards. Hazardous materials like chemicals and sharp tools are stored properly and out of children's reach. Bikes and heavy gear are mounted so they can't fall.
Orderly Nest considers safety as part of every garage project, not just aesthetics.
Getting the Car Back In
One of the most satisfying outcomes of a garage organization project is parking in the garage again. If you've been parking on the driveway because there's no room for your car, that changes after Orderly Nest finishes. Most families are genuinely surprised by how much usable space was buried under the disorganization.
We organize anything in your home: kitchens, pantries, closets, playrooms, garages, storage rooms, home offices, etc. No space is too messy or overwhelming—we’ve seen it all!
We just need you at the start for decluttering decisions, reachable for check-ins along the way, and available at the end to wrap up. If you’re working from home or need to step out briefly, that’s totally fine! We never discard anything without your OK.
Yep! We’re moms. We know how to work around kids.
Not necessarily! We always work with what you already have when possible. If products would make a big difference, we’ll offer suggestions—and you can choose to shop yourself or use our optional Shopping Service.
For a $35 fee, we’ll take care of shopping for all the organizing products you need and handle any returns for you. You’ll just reimburse us for the cost of the items—we always check in with you first to confirm the total before making any purchases.
Every session includes decluttering guidance and hands-on organizing, product recommendations, custom labeling, and donation haul-away. We’ll create systems that actually work for your lifestyle—not just ones that look good in photos.
It depends on the size and complexity of the space. In a 5-hour session, we can usually complete one area (like a pantry, closet, or laundry room). Larger or more cluttered spaces often take multiple sessions.
While we’re not a cleaning service, we always tidy and wipe down surfaces as we organize. You’ll definitely feel a fresh, reset vibe when we’re done!
Never judgmental—truly. We meet every client with compassion and zero shame, no matter what your space looks like. That said, decluttering can feel overwhelming at times, and that’s completely normal. We’re here to guide you through it at your pace, never pressuring you to make a decision you’re not ready for. Our goal is to make the process feel as easy and supportive as possible.
Yes! If you don’t see something we offer, just ask! We can help with move-ins, downsizing a loved one, decluttering after loss, or setting up a craft space. We’re happy to tailor our services to your needs. Just ask—we’ll figure it out together.
Yes! Whether it’s mail, school papers, or office stuff, we create simple, sustainable systems for managing it.
While our main focus is function, we love making spaces look good too! We aren’t designers, but can help with layout, product picks, and light styling. Think practical with a touch of pretty!
